"I'm very excited"
In an interview with Backstage Axxess, Max Cavalera spoke about plans for the new Soulfly album.
The successor to Archangel is expected to be released in the second half of 2018 by Nuclear Blast.
Max says that he is currently composing for the album and in January the band will go to the studio to record with Josh Wilbur, producer of bands like Lamb Of God, Gojira and Killer Be Killed.
Speaking about the direction the band will take on the new album, Max reveals that he draws inspiration from many of his own works: “I’m excited because I think the record will have a bit of that tribal sound that we haven’t done since Prophecy [from 2004]. So it will be cool to go back to that. And the rest of the album will be a continuation of Archangel, because a lot of people like Archangel. And, of course, I think it will have a bit of influence from Psychosis [Cavalera Conspiracy’s new album], because it sounds so cool that somewhere it will have an influence on the record.”
Recently, Max said that he cares about the message his band conveys to fans . "When I hear that my music has helped someone through a difficult time, for me that's the coolest thing in the world. And that's priceless ," he said.
He also commented that in Soulfy he has more space to compose and create, “I have the world music element, the tribal element, the spiritual element. They give me more space to go further with what I can do with music. So I'm very excited. It will be a great album.”
