Matt Sorum replaced Mikkey Dee on the 2009 tour.

SiriusXM radio , former Guns N' Roses Matt Sorum spoke about his experience performing with Motörhead . He filled in for Mikkey Dee at 13 shows during their 2009 tour.

Lemmy called me… actually he texted me, and I could hear his voice through the text,” he recalled. “'Matt, I need you to play drums.' And I texted him, 'Why me?' I don't know why I asked that. ' Dave Grohl isn't available.' Lemmy wasn't a guy who minced words, he spoke the truth. I loved that about him. I asked, 'When are we going to rehearse?' He replied, 'We're not going to.'”

Sorum then received a DVD of the band's performance at the Wacken Open Air festival. "It arrived in the mail the next day. I learned the set and that same night I played with them. It was incredible!", he said.

He also said that the performance was a physically challenging task. “It was very energetic, and I loved it. I remember it to this day. Especially being with Lemmy on the bus. He had great stories. He knew everything about the American Civil War. We were traveling through the South, where there were battles. He would point and tell the story.”

Sorum stated that playing with Motörhead was "one of the best experiences of my life" and "one of the best tours."
