Last Friday, the 14th, blink-182 released their first single since the return of the classic lineup with Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker , and Tom DeLonge.
The single came after much speculation about what had happened to Matt Skiba , who replaced DeLonge in 2015. The guitarist then released the message he sent to Skiba when the reunion decision was made.
In it, DeLonge praised Skiba and thanked him for his time in blink, also revealing that his reconciliation with the band was due to Mark Hoppus's cancer diagnosis (see the full letter at the end of this article). After battling the disease for months, the singer recently revealed that he is cancer-free.
Now, Skiba has released an open letter on social media commenting on his departure from blink-182 and Tom DeLonge's return. In the caption of a new photo of the trio, he wrote: “CONGRATULATIONS to brothers Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker on the triumphant return/reunion of blink-182 and the release of their new single today!!!”
“I’m sure there’s a joke here about releases and happy endings that I’m missing, but I’m really grateful for my time with blink and I’m really happy that you guys are a band and a family again. THANK YOU TO THE BAND AND ALL THE BLINK FANS FOR HAVING ME. You guys were amazing!”
In addition to the new single and Tom's return, blink-182 also confirmed rumors of their first visit to Brazil. The band will perform at Lollapalooza 2023 , not only in Brazil, but also in Argentina and Chile. This will be their first visit to Latin America.
