Kadu Pelegrini , vocalist of Kiara Rocks and StormSons , revealed that he was approached by Velvet Revolver for the vocalist position after the departure of the chaotic Scott Weiland .
With only two albums released, the band had many problems with their vocalist and went on hiatus. In 2010, however, there was a movement for the group's return with a new voice. Among candidates such as Corey Taylor of Slipknot and even Chester Bennington of Linkin Park , the Brazilian was also considered.
“They were looking for a vocalist from South America, a guy who was a bit more hard rock and less well-known,” the singer told the FalaCadabra . “ Matt Sorum hinted at it and said he wanted me to try doing something with Velvet Revolver.”
The informal conversations took place during the drummer's visit to Brazil, when Sorum met Pelegrini in person and sent material about the singer to colleagues in the industry. Unfortunately, the timing wasn't right and the audition never happened.

“When I was in that friendship, doing shows with Matt, (…) he had this void in the middle of Velvet Revolver,” he explained to the Heavy Talk . “He said, ‘I’ll find a way to make that audition happen,’ so a letter was even written so I could go to the United States, but it was a time when Kiara was very busy and it wasn’t a sure thing, Slash had just released a solo album (…). At least I would have done an audition, but the band was on hiatus.”
Ultimately, Slash's experience with his first solo album, released that year, marked the end of Velvet Revolver and the beginning of a new phase in the guitarist's career, as he established a partnership with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators , with whom he continues to work to this day.
