Trivium vocalist Matt Heafy has announced the debut album of Ibaraki , his solo black metal project . The album is called Rashomon and will be released on May 6th.

In addition, Heafy also released the album's second single. The song is called "Akumu" and features Nergal from Behemoth on vocals.

In a statement, Matt Heafy explained ( Consequence ): “'Akumu' means 'nightmare' – and with this song I encourage the listener to find their own interpretations in relation to what they feel with the lyrics and the haunting visuals of the video. I've always been fascinated by Sagazan , and for years I wanted to pay homage to his work with a piece of performance art; finally being able to immerse myself in this style was an intense experience.”

Some guest appearances on the Rashomon include Heafy's bandmates from Trivium, as well as Gerard Way , vocalist of My Chemical Romance.
