Matanza Ritual releases this Friday, the 21st, their highly anticipated debut album, A Vingança é Meu Motor (Revenge is My Engine) , through the Deck .
Since its formation in 2019, the band has toured Brazil with sold-out shows, performing Matanza classics and singles like "Rei Morto" and "Morte Súbita". Now, with a star-studded lineup and production by Rafael Ramos , the group delivers its first full-length album, further increasing public anticipation for this new phase.
The album, named after one of the tracks, bears the band's trademark: a heavy and visceral sound, blending thrash metal, hardcore, and country, coupled with lyrics full of irony, social criticism, and reflections on human chaos. There will be 13 tracks in total, including the already released singles "O Paciente Secreto" and "Assim Vamos Todos Morrer". The album was released alongside the music video for the emblematic "Nascido Num Dia de Azar," which perfectly defines the album's tone. Directed by Carol Borges , the film illustrates the dilemmas of the lyrics by telling a story about a card game – check it out at the end of this article.
With an atmosphere that alternates between fury and melancholy, "Revenge is My Engine" reflects on themes such as sanity, human choices, and the inexorability of death. "The album brings this sense of urgency, of the finite time to make decisions and deal with their consequences. It's the perfect soundtrack for chaotic times," comments Jimmy London , the band's vocalist.
Recorded under the production of Rafael Ramos, with mixing by Jorge Guerreiro and mastering by Fábio Roberto , the project reaffirms the strength and sonic identity of the band, formed by Jimmy London (vocals), Amilcar Christófaro (drums), Felipe Andreoli (bass) and Antônio Araújo (guitar).
The album's release also marks an intense tour schedule for Matanza Ritual, who will perform at the Matanza Ritual Fest in São Paulo on March 28th, followed by other dates across the country. Learn more by clicking here .
