The band made an announcement on Facebook
On their official Facebook page, Mastodon announced yesterday that they are working on a new album. The CD follows their 2011 release, The Hunter.
The band's statement read: “For anyone interested, we are very busy composing a new album. We are working hard and writing riffs to make another great CD.” In an interview with MTV last year, band leader Brent Hinds had cited Jimmy Page and Radiohead as references for the upcoming album.
This year the band also composed a song for the movie Monsters University, the sequel to the Disney animated film Monsters, Inc. The film will be released in July in the United States.
