Mastodon won their first Grammy in January 2018, but guitarist Brent Hinds did not attend the awards ceremony. Now, he has revealed that he was the victim of a motorcycle accident. The driver who caused the accident fled the scene without providing assistance.
The metalhead shared photos of his bloodied face on Instagram. The post came about because Hinds was promoting a film for which he contributed to the soundtrack.
In a caption that seems more like a rambling, the musician spoke about the accident. “I was lucky to survive after playing guitar on the soundtrack on January 23rd. That’s why I couldn’t go to the Grammys. (I was involved in an accident where the driver fled while I was riding my motorcycle, which left me 🐎 pissed). I didn’t get any thanks from my best friends/bandmates 💔… I know they love me and that they were very nervous, but still! Here are some pictures of the result.”
