In an interview published this Tuesday , the 5th, Mark Tremonti recalled the moment when he received one of Eddie Van Halen as a direct gift from the musician during a show at Madison Square Garden where his band was opening for Van Halen .

Besides the gift, Tremonti also recalled the moment when Eddie walked through a crowd of people just to give him some advice. “When the show ended we were backstage and there were 300 people from the crew, press, people everywhere, it was packed. We saw Wolf [ Wolfgang Van Halen ], his mother and Eddie leaving,” he said.

“Eddie saw me out of the corner of his eye and pushed his way through hundreds of people to come over to me and say, ‘Hey, I forgot to tell you – you need to take two springs off [the guitar] for it to play right. Sorry, I forgot to tell you that before.’ Then he gave me a kiss on the cheek and pushed his way through all those people calling for him again,” Tremonti recalls.

Mark Tremonti recalls the moment with amazement. “I got to see him in his essence a few times and I was lucky. It was really cool,” he says. Years later, in 2016, Wolfgang Van Halen himself would play bass in Tremonti . Recently, Mark praised Eddie Van Halen's son for his work on his solo album, Mammoth WVH , saying that the record put “a big smile” on his face.
