In June, musician Wolfgang Van Halen – son of Eddie Van Halen – released his first solo album . The project bears his stage name, Mammoth WVH , and showcases Wolfgang's immense talent, as he composed all the songs and played all the instruments used on the album, including his father's legendary guitar, the Frankenstrat , on some tracks.
Alter Bridge vocalist Mark Tremonti praised his colleague and his debut album, expressing his pride. Mark is the founder of the band Tremonti , where Wolfgang played bass on the albums Cauterize and Dust [via Blabbermouth ]. “I couldn’t be happier for him,” said Mark. “The album is incredible and put a big smile on my face when I heard it. I saw people’s reaction, it’s great.”
“Wolfgang is the nicest guy in the world and he had to deal with his last name, the positive and the negative,” he continued. “The positive is that [ Van Halen ] is one of the best bands in history, but the negative part is: how can you not think of your father when you hear that name? So it was a big step for him to pursue a solo career.”
“I wanted to see what he would be like as a frontman because he was always quieter on stage when he was playing with us, he never took the main microphone. That’s one of the hardest things – embodying that frontman when we go back on stage, when you’re talking and communicating with the audience. That’s not something you can practice at home, and it’s something he seemed to take on perfectly, from what I saw,” he concluded.
first concert was a surprise event in July and was a success, attended by a huge crowd of fans.
