Mourning in Van Halen : the band's original bassist, Mark Stone, passed away last Saturday, the 26th, his brother Brad confirms.
“My dear brother Mark passed away this morning,” Brad wrote on his social media. The cause of death has not been confirmed, however, according to reports, he was being kept under hospice care.
Stone was part of Van Halen from 1972 to 1974, when the band was called Mammoth , and was fired from his position because his commitment to his studies was interfering with his performance in the band. Despite the somewhat unpleasant situation, the artist stated that it did not harm his friendship with the band.
Between 2015 and 2016, Mark participated in Fan Halen , a Van Halen tribute band that aimed to honor the group's era when David Lee Roth was the vocalist.
Wolfgang Van Halen , son of Eddie Van Halen and current bassist for the band, took to social media to mourn the musician's death: "It's heartbreaking to hear of Mark's passing. I met him a few times and he was a wonderful man. My heart goes out to his family."
Rest in peace, Mark Stone.
