Mark Jansen says that "It won't be long" before Epica starts composing a new album

Epica's last album, The Holographic Principle, was released in 2016

Mark Jansen, guitarist and founding member of Epica, spoke about the band's plans, which released the album The Holographic Principle in 2016, and later released the EP The Solace System, which contains six songs that were created during the album's recording process.

“We’re going to continue touring until September and then we’ll have a break. We’ve been touring constantly for 16 years – recording and touring – and now we feel it’s time to take a short break – not a very long one – a short break to recharge our batteries, and then during the break, we’ll probably start composing the next album, but this short break will give us some opportunities for side projects – like, Simone [Simons, vocals] wants to do something, I have Mayan, Rob [Van Der Loo, bass] has some side project, Ariën [Van Weesenbeek], the drummer, is also in Mayan. So everyone will fill this short break in a different way, but I’m already wanting to write a new song. So it won’t be long.”.

The band performed in Brazil in March of this year. Read the review of the São Paulo show by clicking here .
