In a livestream on his Twitch on July 13th, Mark Hoppus , vocalist of blink-182 , gave more details and information regarding his cancer treatment – Mark revealed the information to the public in June and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past three months.
In recent updates, the musician revealed that his type of cancer is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, which attacks white blood cells – the same type his mother had and overcame. Mark also revealed that the cancer was discovered at Stage 4, which is the most advanced stage.
According to Loudwire , the singer also described the three chemotherapy sessions he underwent, comparing the first session to feeling like a zombie being electrocuted, the second feeling weak as if he had a bad flu, and the third as the onset of nausea and vomiting.
“One side effect of chemotherapy is that you develop something called ‘chemo brain.’ In my case, I forget things that I should know by heart, like people’s names, song titles, anything,” Mark explained.
He also revealed that the following day (July 14th) he would have a test to determine if the treatments were working or not. “If they are, I need to come back for at least 3 more sessions. Ideally, I would arrive tomorrow and they would say, 'Congratulations! Your chemotherapy worked and you're cancer-free and won't have to think about cancer for the rest of your life,' which is what I hope for,” Mark said.
“If they say, ‘Well, it’s not working as we expected,’ then we’ll talk about other options, which I think involves a bone marrow transplant. We’re going to beat this cancer,” he stated. “It’s just a matter of time.” To date, the singer has not provided any further updates on the results of his tests.
