Marilyn Manson reached a settlement with a woman who accused him of sexual harassment and rape a week before the case was due to go to trial.

According to reports from Rolling Stone , the agreement between Manson and the woman – identified only as Jane Doe to protect her identity – was made last Wednesday, the 27th, with the notification from Jane Doe's lawyer, Adam Wolf . The lawyer is also expected to file a request to close the case within 45 days.

The lawsuit was filed in 2021 after Doe said she was raped by Manson in 2011, when they were dating. He then threatened to kill her.

When contacted by NME for comment after the initial lawsuit was filed against the musician in 2021, a member of Manson's team "vehemently denied the allegations."

The details of the agreement were not revealed at the time of publication.

Doe told Rolling Stone in a statement: “I was fully prepared for the trial and never in a million years thought I would reach a settlement, but for the past two and a half years I have silently endured threats, intimidation, harassment and various forms of intimidation that have intensified in recent weeks.”

“Marilyn Manson attended my deposition, and I was forced to answer for seven hours of aggressive questioning with him looking at me from across the table. I was told that this almost never happens because it is cruel, and that the main reason for it would be to intimidate and inflict emotional suffering on the victim,” added Jane Doe.

Doe continued explaining: “I never cared about money and always wanted justice, but if we had gone to trial, I could have lost my right to anonymity and been held accountable as a victim on a large scale and publicly. More importantly, I could have risked losing the freedom to tell my story, and that is worth more than anything in the world.”

Howard King , Marilyn Manson's lawyer, said of the settlement to Rolling Stone : “ Brian [ Warner , the singer's real name] is satisfied because, just as previous lawsuits were dropped without payment or settled for pennies, this plaintiff has now agreed to drop the lawsuit in exchange for an insurance payout that represents a fraction of his claims and far less than the cost to Brian of proceeding to trial.”

In the original 2021 lawsuit, Doe claimed he met Warner at a pre-Grammy party in 2011. The lawsuit also alleges that Manson showed Doe a film titled Groupie – which sources close to Manson claim is a “scripted short film” – filmed in 1996, which depicted him tying a young female fan to a chair, forcing her to drink a glass of a band member's urine, and threatening her with a gun.

Over the past two years, Manson has faced numerous lawsuits and allegations from more than a dozen women who have accused him of sexual and physical abuse. These include his ex-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood , actress and former girlfriend Esme Bianco , his former personal assistant Ashley Walters , and his ex-girlfriend Ashley Morgan Smithline . The lawsuits filed by Walters and Smithline were dismissed, while Manson reached a settlement with Bianco in January. There are also reports that Manson abused minors and that record labels were complicit in the crime.

Following the accusations, which he always denied, the singer-songwriter was dropped by his record label, Loma Vista.
