Marilyn Manson made his return to the stage last Friday, the 2nd, for the first time in 5 years. This was also the singer's first show since the multiple accusations of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse that began in 2021.
Manson performed at Hersheypark Stadium in Pennsylvania, the first of 30 dates on his tour with Five Finger Death Punch . So far, the shows are only confirmed in the United States.
About three years ago, Marilyn Manson was the target of a series of accusations and legal battles that began after the testimony of his ex-girlfriend, actress Evan Rachel Wood . “My abuser’s name is Brian Warner , also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He began harassing me when I was a teenager and abused me in horrific ways for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into being submissive,” she wrote on her social media. Wood had spoken about the abuse she suffered in a past relationship in 2019 before a committee in California, but had not named her abuser until then.
Following the actress's testimony, other women came forward to denounce numerous acts of violence by Manson; among them, actress Esmé Bianco and the singer's former assistant, Ashley Walters . The artist classified most of the accusations as "false" and claimed to be the victim of a "coordinated attack" that sought to "monetize and exploit the #MeToo movement."
Before his return to the stage this Friday, Marilyn Manson also released "As Sick As the Secrets Within," his first single since 2020.
