Over a year ago, Marilyn Manson announced he would be starring in the CBS miniseries The Stand , but this weekend director Josh Boone revealed that the character had to be cut.

The Stand Stephen King 's 1978 book , which was titled The Dance of Death in Brazil, and Manson would play The Kid , a character who appeared in an extended version of King's novel, but not in the original story.

“Marilyn Manson and I had discussed for a long time that he would take on the role of The Kid in The Stand. He and the great Shooter Jennings even recorded a killer cover of The Doors ,’ but it ended up being too expensive to use,” Boone told Entertainment Weekly . “The production was done on a very tight budget, and some of the dreams we had ended up falling by the wayside. The Kid was one of the casualties.”

"No one could have played this role better than Manson. I hope to work with him again in the future," he added.

The story of The Stand revolves around a deadly virus that threatens the human race. Watch the trailer below.
