To our surprise, the track is not one of the singer's biggest hits
An artist like Marilyn Manson has numerous hits in his repertoire, and any one of them could be a source of pride for the singer, but during an interview on BBC Radio 1 's Rock Show With Daniel P Carter , he revealed that the song he is most proud of writing wasn't a big hit.
Recorded for the album Mechanical Animals (1998), “The Speed Of Pain” is the artist's most notable work, according to him. “It was a poem I wrote,” he said, “I was on a plane reading Time magazine and there was an article talking about how long it takes for your brain to understand that you are feeling pain. That inspired me to write the song.”
“I don’t know why, but I became obsessed with it. I couldn’t explain it even if you tortured me.” Manson also says that the theme of tragic romances appears quite often in his songs, but he doesn’t understand why. “Maybe I didn’t have enough girlfriends as a kid,” he jokes.
