There are some people we just can't imagine doing certain things, and when we think of Marilyn Manson possibly crying, it seems a little… strange. However, a music legend made the artist put an end to this somewhat impossible scenario.
In an interview with Revolver , the singer shares how none other than Sir Elton John brought him to tears. Manson states that, when he began recording his new album, We Are Chaos , with producer Shooter Jennings , the initial songwriting process resembled what Elton John and Bernie Taupin used to do. And, coincidentally, the duo attended a show that singer Brandi Carlile (with whom Jennings had recently worked and won Grammys for it) performed in tribute to Joni Mitchell , and at the event, the encounter with John took place.
“We met Elton John and he kissed me on both cheeks,” Marilyn points out. “That essentially made me cry. Because Elton John… not just musically, his beautiful songs and heartbreaking compositions. And I loved the movie [ Rocketman ] immensely and cried every time I watched it. I don’t mind saying that. It was very special.”
