"I don't agree with the snowball effect that's happening."
In an interview with British Channel 4 News, Marilyn Manson spoke about the sexual harassment allegations that have been flooding Hollywood.
The accusations are part of the #MeToo movement, in which actresses tell their stories in order to expose their abusers, such as producer Harvey Weinstein.
Among the actresses is Rose McGowan, Manson's former fiancée, who quickly stated that it is necessary to distinguish between "serious" and "non-serious" accusations.
“When someone starts complaining about something that doesn’t seem as serious as sexual harassment, I think it’s an insult to the people who have already suffered from it. It irritates me that some people say, ‘Someone gave me an inappropriate gift.’ That’s not the same thing as being hurt.”
He goes on to say that he believes women should go to the police to report their cases, not to the press. “I think the world needs to find balance and the right way to deal with this situation. I don’t agree with the snowball effect that’s happening, and I think all of this could destroy the lives of many people who don’t need it.”
