"I didn't separate myself from Twiggy as a friend or brother."
In October 2017, Marilyn Manson bassist Twiggy Ramirez was accused of raping Jack Off Jill vocalist Jessicka Addams, his ex-girlfriend . Shortly after the accusation, Manson fired Ramirez from his band and has since given little attention to the case.
Now, in an interview with Kerrang! magazine, the musician spoke about the dismissal of his bassist, revealing that their partnership has undergone some changes, but their personal relationship remains the same.
“I haven’t cut ties with Twiggy as a friend or brother, because I still care about him. But I can’t say that my musical relationship with Twiggy has been good in recent years. My relationship with Tyler Bater on The Pale Emperor [2015 album] made me wake up to some things and I wanted to cut the negativity out of my life.”
He goes on to say that 2017 was a year full of betrayals and it was necessary to "clean house," distancing himself from some people who were hurting him. "Some people confuse my generosity with weakness. So I adopted this attitude of 'if you screw me over, you'll suffer the consequences'."
Since Bates joined the band, Twiggy's musical contribution has diminished over time. Reading the songwriting and instrumental credits for the last two albums, The Pale Emperor and Heaven Upside Down, it's noticeable that Twiggy's name is not listed.
