Marilyn Manson proposed a settlement to end the defamation lawsuit he filed against his ex-fiancée, actress Evan Rachel Wood , agreeing to pay approximately US$327,000 (about R$1.9 million at the current exchange rate) in Wood's legal fees, thus ending the legal dispute between the two.

accusation against Manson began in 2021 , involving serious allegations of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, stating that the singer manipulated her during the period from 2007 to 2010, when Wood was only 19 years old and began a relationship with Manson.

Wood's accusations triggered a series of similar reports from other women, who also accused Manson of abusive behavior. At the time, the singer denied all the accusations, calling them "horrible distortions of reality." In response, Manson filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood the following year.

Manson's initial offer consisted of paying a portion of Wood's legal fees in exchange for confidentiality of the agreement. Wood rejected this proposal, refusing to accept the confidentiality clause, as well as disagreeing with the other terms. Subsequently, Manson decided to completely drop the lawsuit against Wood and agreed to pay the actress's legal fees in full ( via Rolling Stone ).

According to the lawyer representing Manson's ex-fiancée ( via Deadline ), the lawsuit filed against Evan Rachel Wood was a marketing ploy to try and undermine the credibility of the many women who accused him and to attempt to revive his career. "His attempt to silence and intimidate Ms. Wood has failed," he stated.

“As the trial court concluded, Manson’s claims were without merit, and its decision to ultimately drop his lawsuit and pay Wood the full amount of his legal fees only confirms this,” commented Wood’s defense, handled by the law firm Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP.

With Manson's decision to end the dispute, the legal battle came to an end. Although the singer returned to the stage this year, the controversies surrounding his public persona remain a recurring theme among fans who follow his career.

The controversial and polarizing figure of Marilyn Manson.

Marilyn Manson is known for his provocative attitudes throughout his career, being a striking and recurring figure among the taboos of the music industry. With his disruptive aesthetic addressing themes such as violence, religion, and sexuality, Manson's life has earned him a considerable following of both fans and critics.

Without a doubt, one of the most controversial events in the singer's life was the abuse allegations that surfaced in recent years, further tarnishing his reputation. Besides Evan Rachel Wood, other women also accused Manson of abusive behavior.

The case with Wood, now closed, is part of a larger context of controversies involving Manson's name, including accusations of influencing school shootings, involvement with paganism, and statements about suicide, depression, and death.

Often seen as an icon of rebellion, the singer doesn't always manage to garner positive media attention, frequently becoming the target of criticism and public disdain, leading his career to experience constant ups and downs.

In November of this year, Manson released his 12th studio album, titled One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1 , signed to the Nuclear Blast Records label.
