Marilyn Manson covers the classic (and controversial) song "The End" by The Doors.

The song gained a heavy version to Jim Morrison's intense lyrics.

Marilyn Manson released a cover of The Doors ," accompanied by a dark video created by Zev Deans and inspired by a painting of the singer.

The Doors' classic, featured on the soundtrack of Apocalypse Now (1979), is marked by references to incest and the murder of the father, with citations from Sophocles ' Oedipus Rex . Furthermore, a huge cult following revolves around the track. Legend has it that it was the last song heard by the band's vocalist Jim Morrison before he died of an accidental overdose.

The track was recorded in partnership with Shooter Jennings and will be part of the soundtrack for Stephen King 's The Stand . Manson is also one of the actors cast in the show, which does not yet have a premiere date.

“The End” is the second cover released by Manson in recent weeks. He also released a reinterpretation of “God's Gonna Cut You Down ,” a folk song recorded by dozens of artists over the years, including Elvis Presley under the name “Run On.” Johnny Cash , however, popularized the track as “God's Gonna Cut You Down” in 2003.

With these two new releases, Manson reveals that he is in the studio working on exclusive material alongside Jennings. A new album, the successor to Heaven Upside Down (2017), should be announced soon.
