Marilyn Manson has cancelled his opening show for the European leg of his One Assassination Under God . Protests from activists and MP Siân Berry forced the artist to cancel the first scheduled show of the tour, which was to take place on October 29th in Brighton, England.

On the morning of last Saturday, the 28th, fans received a message from Ticketmaster informing them that the show had been cancelled and that the production company would issue refunds.

According to The Guardian , the show was cancelled after the online group No Stage for Abusers – which describes itself as “a campaign against abusive men being given a platform to perform” – demanded that “the Brighton Centre and Brighton and Hove City Council, which owns the venue, cancel the performance”.

There was also pressure from Siân Berry , a Green Party MP, who issued an open letter to Brighton and Hove City Councillor Bella Sankey last Thursday, the 24th. In the letter, she expresses her concern about the Marilyn Manson concert scheduled to take place on October 29th at the Brighton Centre, United Kingdom.

Furthermore, the congresswoman argued that allowing the artist to perform would show voters that they were not concerned about the sexual misconduct allegations made against the artist.

Furthermore, according to The Guardian , Marilyn Manson's fans point out that he was found innocent of the charges against him. Others have said that the decision violates freedom of expression. One person told the local newspaper The Argus : "This is cancel culture, nothing more, and it will backfire when artists don't include a date in Brighton and Hove on their tours and limit themselves to London, which, incidentally, didn't ban Marilyn Manson from its city."

Another show may be cancelled.

BBC website , Millie Earl of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP) stated that they should cancel the show in the city of Bournemouth to "reinforce the message that violence against women and girls is not acceptable in our community."

The Liberal Democrat reported that the council owns the Bournemouth International Centre BH Live venue where the show is scheduled to take place. Due to the lease agreement, the council has no decision-making power over which events take place there. However, Millie Earl wrote to the company to “express [her] concern”.

“I don’t think Marilyn Manson reflects the values we have at BCP. And we’ve been working hard on things like the White Ribbon accreditation program, which helps men and boys change negative and harmful behaviors. So, I asked BH Live to reconsider hosting Marilyn Manson later this year.”

As of now, the show is still confirmed for October 31st at Windsor Hall in the Bournemouth International Centre.

Sexual abuse allegations against Marilyn Manson

Over the past four years, Manson has been embroiled in a series of legal battles . Several women have accused him, including actress Evan Rachel Wood , of sexual, emotional, and physical abuse. Following the actress's testimony, other women came forward to denounce numerous acts of violence perpetrated by Manson. Among them are actress Esmé Bianco and the singer's former assistant, Ashley Walters .

Marilyn Manson made his return to the stage in August 2024, marking the singer's first show since the accusations. In November of the same year, he released the album Assassination Under God – Chapter 1 through Nuclear Blast Records . This followed his longtime label Loma Vista Recordings and agency CAA dropping him due to the accusations.

The singer denied all accusations and sued several of his alleged victims, being acquitted in January 2025 due to lack of evidence.
