Marilyn Manson 's defense attempts to invalidate the lawsuit filed by the singer's former assistant, Ashley Walters , the alleged victim's lawyer reportedly claimed that her client suffered threats of violence that led her to remain silent.

Walters reportedly met Manson in 2010 and worked for the singer until October 2011, where she claims to have been a victim of sexual and psychological abuse, as well as physical assault. According to Marilyn Manson's defense, the case should be dismissed because it exceeded the legal time limit for filing sexual assault charges. Walters filed a complaint in May 2021, a decade after the alleged incident.

Ashley's lawyer, Tanya Sukhija-Cohen , argued to Judge Michael J. Stern that the threats suffered by Manson's former assistant should be taken into consideration. "There was a perpetrator of reprehensible conduct who dissuaded her from filing a lawsuit, not only with threats, but with violence, intimidation, and other coercive acts," she alleges.

Ashley Walters' lawyers also argue that their client was only able to speak out about the alleged abuse she suffered after participating in a support group organized by other victims of Brian Warner . Marilyn Manson's lawyer, however, argues that the limit for such accusations was up to three years after the end of Walters' contact with the musician and that "there were no threats that prevented her from coming forward" during that period and the time she decided to speak out.

Details about the lawsuit filed by Ashley Walters include a forced sexual interaction between her and Manson when they first met, as well as abusive work schedules and fits of rage and violence in which the singer threw objects at her. In an even more shocking revelation, Walters alleges that Manson had a habit of offering her to his friends to "please" them , whether through acts of service, flirting, or allowing them to touch her inappropriately.
