Accusations leveled against Marilyn Manson and David Ellefson , former bassist of Megadeth , have placed the two artists as the only representatives of metal in a ranking of artists who lost the most fans in 2021 due to controversies.
The results were released by TickPick , which conducted a survey on the ability of American music fans to separate the artist from their work, in which more than half of the thousand respondents said they had boycotted one or more artists in the past year.
In the ranking, Marilyn Manson appears in eighth place. The musician is accused of domestic violence, emotional and sexual abuse, and human trafficking , among other crimes, by several women, with Evan Rachel Wood , Esmé Bianco , and former assistant Ashley Waters among the alleged victims.
In twentieth place on the list, David Ellefson was involved in a sex scandal with a fan, with whom he had an extramarital affair online. Initially, intimate videos of the bassist were leaked with accusations that the young woman was underage, a fact later denied by both parties . The negative repercussions of the scandal resulted in Ellefson's dismissal from Megadeth .
