Marcello Pompeu , vocalist of Korzus , commented on the demands for the artistic community to take a stand during a time of deep political polarization in Brazil.
Colisão podcast , a member of the longest-running Brazilian heavy metal band in history confessed that he changed his political stance after being disappointed with former president Lula, for whom he had campaigned before his first term.
“The last guy I truly campaigned for, believed in, and did everything a political enthusiast would do, was Lula . I had a vision that someone who (…) lived in difficult places could understand the situation of the poor. I thought he would go down in history,” he said. “I am highly disappointed with everything that happened during the PT administrations.”

After “a mountain of scandals,” Pompeu changed his attitude and no longer votes. “I’ve had this position for much longer than many who criticize me, because I only leave my house to vote if someone represents me,” he explained. “If they don’t represent me, I won’t choose them. If they don’t represent me, what difference does it make if you or they choose me?”
The singer also has no conflicts with friends over political issues and says he roots for all elected candidates, even if he doesn't feel properly represented. “I'll root for them (…) so I can regain faith in this and say, 'Look, I thought he didn't represent me, but the guy is a genius.' I rooted for this president to have a great government and I'll root for the next one,” he continued.
Finally, Pompeu also refuted the need for artists to take a political stance. “I’m not going to make music to insult Bolsonaro or Lula,” he argued. “I’m going to make music to express a little of what I see and believe can change people’s hearts. What’s lacking in the world, for me, is a lot of love and respect for people.”
