Måneskin nods to pop in new single “SUPERMODEL”

The new track is produced by Max Martin and criticizes the cult of celebrity.

After releasing a great hard rock album , Måneskin released their new single “SUPERMODEL” this Thursday, the 12th. This is another song entirely in English from the Italian quartet and has a more pop feel than their recent works.

Produced by Max Martin – who has worked with boy bands like N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys – “SUPERMODEL” offers a critique of the cult of celebrity and status that Måneskin witnessed during his time living in Los Angeles.

“We wrote 'SUPERMODEL' after spending a few months in LA. Sometimes we were surprised and intrigued to discover how much people cared about the idea of 'celebrity' and status, becoming obsessed with their clothes and their connections,” explains the band ( Kerrang! ).

“We wanted to imagine a character who was an enigmatic model. She’s cool, fun, and sociable, but she actually has problems, hides sadness and addiction. In a way, you love her because she knows how to have fun, but you also want to avoid her because she can cause you problems,” they conclude.

This is not the first time Måneskin has ventured into pop territory. Their first studio album, Il ballo della vita (2018), also contained a number of English-language pop tracks in an attempt to make the band sound more commercial and gain a foothold on the American charts.
