Guitarist suffered from dementia

AC/DC guitarist and founder Malcolm Young passed away this Saturday after battling dementia, which forced him to leave the band he founded with his brother Angus.

The official AC/DC page made two posts, which are listed below:

"It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of Malcolm Young, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Malcolm had suffered from dementia for several years and passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside."

Known for his musical abilities, Malcolm was a composer, guitarist, performer, producer, and visionary who inspired many. From the beginning, he knew what he wanted to achieve and, along with his younger brother, made the world his stage, giving his all in every show. Nothing less would satisfy his fans.

Malcolm leaves behind his beloved wife O'Linda, his children Cara and Ross, his son-in-law Josh, three grandchildren, a sister, and a brother. While we appreciate the incredible support and heartfelt condolences, the family asks that their privacy be respected during this time of grief and sorrow.

For those who wish to send messages to the family, please visit the 'Sydney Morning Herald Malcolm Young Memorial' website, which will be available from next week.

The family requests that instead of flowers, donations be sent to the Salvation Army..
