Malcolm Dome , a music journalist specializing in rock and metal, has died at the age of 66. Dome was a longtime contributor to Kerrang!, Classic Rock , Prog , Metal Hammer , and Louder .
The journalist began his career at Record Mirror in the 1970s and in the following decade moved to Metal Fury before joining Kerrang! shortly after its founding in 1981. Among other major milestones in the industry, Dome was responsible for creating and popularizing the term thrash metal when he wrote about the song "Metal Thrashing Mad" by Anthrax in 1984. Later, he founded RAW magazine in 1988.
In the early 1990s, Malcolm Dome was editor of Metal Forces and also worked at Terror , a magazine specializing in horror films. Dome then returned to Kerrang! Classic Rock, Metal Hammer , and magazines .
Dome was also the author of many books about rock bands, ranging from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin and Metallica . The cause of his death has not been revealed.
