Robb Flynn 's latest performance from Machine Head's Acoustic Happy Hour series , which was streamed live last Friday, the 18th, on Facebook, is now available in its entirety for the enjoyment of fans.
The show, which featured a Christmas-themed set and costumes designed by Flynn, included acoustic covers of classics such as "Hotel California" by the Eagles , "Black" by Pearl Jam , and "Bleed The Freak" by Alice In Chains . Performances of Machine Head's own songs were also included, of course, with "Is There Anybody Out There?" and "Descend The Shades Of Night".
“It’s basically a free show on Facebook,” the artist told Kerrang!. “I try to learn two new songs every Friday. I take requests and try to play Machine Head songs that have never been played live acoustically. Last week, I did a cover of Muse, Tool, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. It’s been fucking amazing. The first three or four were awful – I knew they were – but I knew that if I kept at it for six weeks, I’d get over it.”
“For the first 20 years of my career, I never had singing lessons,” he continues. “Then I did some about 10 years ago. With these acoustic shows, I got back in touch with my old singing teacher to try and figure out why I can do a three-and-a-half-hour Machine Head show, but this clean singing is hurting me. It’s been an opportunity to unlearn all the wrong things and have the chance to do the right things.”
