Oakland-based groove metal band Machine Head today released the official music video for the song “Outsider,” a track from their eleventh studio album, Unatoned , which also arrives on digital platforms this Friday, the 25th, via Nuclear Blast/Imperium Recordings .

The video was filmed during the band's show on April 17th at The Aztec Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, capturing all the energy and intensity that fans have come to expect from the live performances of the group led by Robb Flynn .

Regarding the song “Outsider,” vocalist and guitarist Robb Flynn commented: “'Outsider' is an anthem that resonates with anyone who has had to cut toxic people out of their life. In recent years, I've had to leave many relationships, and I know I'm not alone in this. This track is for anyone who has ever been through this.”

The album was written on the go — on the road, in hotel rooms, and across continents — reflecting the raw energy of the band's return to the global festival circuit after an 11-year hiatus. Unatoned was recorded at Robb's Jam Room Sharkbite Studios , and Drop Of Sun Recording between July 2023 and December 2024.

The production was handled by Flynn and Zack Ohren , who was also responsible for the engineering. Mixing and mastering were done by Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy at Audioworks UK , and the album was mastered by Ted Jensen and his assistant Justin Shturtz . The only exception was the track “Landscape Of Thorns,” produced by Flynn and Joel Wanasek , who also handled the mixing of the single along with Zack Ohren. Machine Head once again enlisted Seth Siro Anton to create the album artwork.

Machine Head on tour

Machine Head is currently touring North America, having kicked off the shows on April 1st at the Revolution Concert House And Event Center in Garden City, Idaho. The band also performed in Spokane , Washington, on April 3rd, before joining In Flames , Lacuna Coil , and Unearth for 25 more dates across the United States and Canada.

Formed in 1991, Machine Head is recognized as one of the most influential and incendiary bands in the world of metal. Exploding into the global consciousness with their seminal 1994 album Burn My Eyes , the legendary Oakland group brutally redefined what it meant to be heavy, incorporating a wide variety of influences into some of the sharpest and most brutal metal anthems ever written.

Nearly three decades later, the band founded and led by vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn has amassed an extraordinary catalog of classic albums – including the powerful 2007 album The Blackening Metallica and Slipknot – while routinely enhancing their already formidable reputation as one of the most powerful and relentless live bands in heavy music.
