Machine Gun Kelly also recounted an incident where one of the actors bit the director's shoulder on the film.

Machine Gun Kelly talked about what it was like to play drummer Tommy Lee in the Mötley Crüe biopic .

The rapper plays Lee in The Dirt – alongside Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx , Daniel Webber as Vince Neil Game of Thrones actor Iwan Rheon plays guitarist Mick Mars .

In an interview, Kelly said that Lee is the "puppy" of the group. "He makes mistakes, but you kind of love him more than he makes mistakes," she explained.

As for the rest of the cast, he said that the first night of filming got unexpectedly out of control. Douglas Boothe bit director Jeff Tremaine .

“On our first night together in New Orleans, Jeff Tremaine told us to go out and have a beer. To bond,” he recalled.

“In the first 30 minutes, Doug was saying 'I'm Nikki Sixx!' and biting Jeff's shoulder. The director still has the marks. At that moment we knew it was going to be crazy.”

The film is based on the biography of the same name – which Kelly read as a teenager. “When you’re 13, you don’t really understand the problems. So you only look at the bright things. It was only when we were on set, doing scenes that were really heavy, that I thought about it. 'How are people going to react to all this?'” she wondered.

“But there’s something about truth in this book. You fall in love with these people who suddenly plunge into a very dark place.”
