It's been almost a year since rapper Machine Gun Kelly tested the loyalty of his fanbase by venturing into pop punk on his album Tickets To My Downfall . The album introduced the artist to a new legion of fans and received Billboard and iHeartRadio Music for best rock album and best alternative rock album, even beating AC/DC .
Recently, the singer released his new single "papercuts," which shows his return to rock, signaling a certain departure from the upbeat sound that earned him his first VMA with "bloody valentine." Once again, some people were unhappy with the musical genre chosen by MGK, to which the artist responded in a video posted on his social media :
“If I make a rock song, [people say] 'Arghhhh, he doesn't rap anymore!'. If I make a rap song, [people say] 'Arghhhh, he doesn't rock anymore!'. Shut the fuck up! I'm not going to die tomorrow, I just make music!”
“papercuts” is another collaboration between Machine Gun Kelly and blink-182 drummer Travis Barker . The eccentric music video was directed by Cole Bennett and can be seen below:
