Machine Gun Kelly says he'll return to rap on his next album: "No hard feelings."

The artist says he wants people to "feel nostalgic" for the pop-punk sound after two similar albums.

It seems that two years was enough time for Machine Gun Kelly to get a taste of what it's like to be closer to the world of rock – and decide that it's not for him.

After releasing the pop punk albums Tickets To My Downfall (2020) and Mainstream Sellout (2022), the artist announced in a recent interview that he intends to return to rap and pick up where he left off with the album Hotel Diablo (2019).

“I’m going to make a rap album for myself. There’s no other reason, there’s nothing to prove, no resentment of any kind. If I keep doing things to prove something to someone, I’ll: 1) go crazy; and 2) not do a good job,” he commented.

Despite Gun Kelly's statements, it is public knowledge that the rock and metal community did not receive him well , unlike the mainstream and the nostalgic emo generation audience, who secured the rapper his first Billboard , AMA , and VMA for his work with Tickets To My Downfall .

Between feuds with Corey Taylor and accusations that he was faking playing guitar on stage, the musician faced harsh criticism for switching musical genres and now seems to want to return to his roots.

“I made Tickets and Mainstream Sellout because I wanted to make them,” he commented. “Now I need to make people miss that sound too because [those two] are companion albums. I think making a third [sonically similar] album won’t seem exciting unless people feel nostalgic.”
