After causing a stir among metal fans by making mocking comments about Slipknot and being booed at one of his shows , Machine Gun Kelly revealed that his next album, Born With Horns , will be more "guitar-heavy".

In 2020, Gun Kelly turned his back on rap and released his first punk rock album, Tickets To My Downfall , which was supposed to feature a collaboration with Corey Taylor , who recently denied Kelly's version of events, claiming he didn't use his verses on the song because he thought they were "fucking awful".

While the 2020 album opened new doors for Machine Gun Kelly's career, the musician now seems to want to risk a heavier sound, as shown in his recent single "papercuts". "[The new album] definitely sounds heavier on the guitars and lyrically it definitely goes deeper – but I never like to do anything the same way. Every album is a juxtaposition of the previous album, so I studied Tickets and listened to the sunny sound it had and for this album I turned off the lights," he reflects in a new interview .

“I’m not afraid anymore, nothing is stopping me from being my true self – and my true self cannot be silenced or contained. It’s a force, like a hurricane. You can’t stop it, it continues until it feels like it wants to stop, and I don’t want to stop anytime soon,” she concludes.

Regarding a possible release date, Machine Gun Kelly revealed that "as soon as we open our eyes in 2022" he will have something we can hear.
