"They are casual fans"
Avenged Sevenfold's vocalist, M. Shadows, spoke about opening for Metallica on their last tour.
“You learn that you can play anything, but when you play a song from the Black Album, everyone goes crazy. And that's 60% of the audience; they're casual fans who only have the Black Album.”
He goes on to say that playing “Sad But True”, “Enter Sandman” and “Unforgiven” is a different experience, since everyone knows those tracks.
"Many bands that were around when Metallica released the Black Album are now playing in bars, and Metallica plays in stadiums ," he says.
The tour that Avenged Sevenfold accompanied Metallica on was to promote the album Hardwired… To Self-Destruct.
