Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows surprised fans by announcing his departure from the social network X (formerly Twitter). On his profile, the frontman wrote about the reasons behind his late decision to join the platform and why he chose to leave it now.

Motivations behind the departure

Shadows, who joined Twitter in September 2021, shared his experience, beginning with an invitation to participate in a 'Twitter space' about NFTs. While thanking them for building relationships and launching projects like Deathbats Club , he highlighted that, although grateful, the app no longer interests him.

Promising to continue sharing his nerdy passions, such as technology, VR, blockchain, and music, the vocalist acknowledges that the reach will be limited due to the platform's dynamics.

Upon joining Twitter in 2021, M. Shadows had amassed nearly 84,000 followers and followed 1,438 accounts. The vocalist used the platform to discuss Avenged Sevenfold's music, promote projects, and express his love for other artists, including Megadeth and Radiohead .

He also shared memes, including some about his own band, and stood out as an informative voice about NFTs.

“Twitter – I’m saying goodbye (sort of),” the singer begins, explaining: “I was going to write something to explain why I no longer find this platform useful, but the reality is that it’s a waste of time and who really cares?”

Despite leaving X, Shadows plans to remain active on the Discord server , where fans can subscribe or continue following his updates. He emphasizes the constant search for new ways to connect online.
