The vocalist passed away at the age of 43 last Thursday, the 16th
Lzzy Hale honored Jill Janus , lead singer of Huntress , with a mental health awareness campaign after the singer committed suicide last Thursday, the 16th.
Halestorm 's vocalist posted a photo on her Instagram with Janus during a performance they did together, along with a lengthy message about mental health, a subject Hale has always been very open about.
“We need to stop trying to meet the expectations that society places before us to make us feel unworthy of love, beauty, and success. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others. We need to stop trying to be 'normal.' And we need to stop being silent about our mental well-being.”
She further encourages everyone to ask for help: “We are all in this life together. For those of you with the ability to lend a hand or an ear, do it! We have a responsibility to help each other because everything we say, do, and touch affects the entire race. We are all connected.”
At the end of the text, which also discusses the care we should take with the medications prescribed in these cases, Hale sends a message to her colleague: “To Jill, my scream sister, I hope that wherever you are, you have found the peace you couldn’t have here. My deepest sympathies go out to Jill’s family and her band Huntress during this time.”
Shortly after the post, Lzzy Hale launched a campaign called #RaiseYourHorns. The intention is to post a photo of yourself making the symbol with your hand and use the hashtag as a way to show those suffering from depression that they are not alone.
Jill Janus died at the age of 43. The news was released by the band Huntress, who cited how much the vocalist fought for the topic to be addressed correctly in society.
