In an interview with Guitar Player , Lzzy Hale , vocalist and guitarist of Halestorm , listed the ten albums that changed her life, recounting some of the memorable moments that were evoked by each one.

Among the albums is Lateralus (2001), by the progressive metal band Tool . The story behind it is certainly one of the most curious. Lzzy begins: “My little brother Arejay ( Hale ) was getting really good at drumming. He had learned the song 'Schism' by Tool on the radio, so I thought I should buy him the album for his birthday. We just devoured it. I ended up really enjoying it. Listening to their music was like watching a horror movie.”

The vocalist continues: “I had a really bad job as a waitress, and I managed to get tickets to see Tool at Hershey Park. I was so excited. Then, Arejay did something to annoy our parents and they wouldn't let him go. I thought, 'Okay, this could be an opportunity to ask someone out on a date,' and that's what I did. I asked a guy, Nate, and he agreed. I thought, 'Great!' We didn't have very good seats, but it didn't matter – the show was amazing. I sang every word. Halfway through the show, I looked at my date and saw that he had fallen asleep – something totally unacceptable to me.”

Lzzy concludes humorously: “So, in a weird way, Lateralus changed my life. My brother still jokes with me about it: ‘I wouldn’t have slept.’”

Halestorm's sixth album is being finalized and is scheduled for release in 2025, as revealed in an interview with Metal Hammer .

Throughout the day, I'm accompanied by a soundtrack, preferably composed of rock and metal (in its numerous subgenres). Reading about music is one of my favorite pastimes, and being able to write about it is a rewarding exercise. I have a degree in Multimedia Production from the Belas Artes University Center.
