Guitarist Sophie Lloyd will release her first solo album, Imposter Syndrome , on November 10th. To celebrate the release, she launched the album's title track along with a music video. The song features a guest appearance by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm , who also composed the track.
“Working with Lzzy was honestly a dream come true for me,” Lloyd said in a statement. “I’ve been a fan of hers for years and when I decided to do a collaborative album, her name was the first that came to mind. She did an incredible job taking something so personal and making music that conveys all the emotion I’ve felt for years.”
She continued: “Musically, this song takes a different direction from the others on the album, it has more of a ballad feel, but it’s still epic and powerful. Jason Soudah also composed orchestral strings for this song, which really captured the emotion we wanted to convey. It was so healing working with Lzzy on this song and it really helped me overcome my own imposter syndrome and I hope others will be able to relate to it and know that they are not alone and that they can overcome anything.”
Hale added: “I’ve been inspired by Sophie Lloyd for years! When Sophie asked me to put lyrics and music to her incredible instrumental work, we had a deep conversation about how this album has been a tool to help her overcome her feelings of otherness. It was like flipping through her diary and also looking in the mirror. I hope this music gives strength to those who need it. It was an honor to draw my weapons and work with such a talented and dazzling soul!”
“Impostor Syndrome” follows the album’s first single, “Runaway,” which was released in July . The song features Steel Panther Michael Starr. The album will also include appearances by Brandon Saller (Atreyu), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Trevor McNevan (Thousand Foot Krutch), Tyler Connolly (Theory of a Deadman), Lauren Babic , and Chris Robertson (Black Stone Cherry).
