Lynyrd Skynyrd has announced a 50th-anniversary commemorative box set titled FYFTY , to be released on October 13th.
The collection will consist of 4 CDs in physical and digital versions, featuring dozens of tracks from the group's entire career. The first album includes their greatest hits from the studio and live recordings, as well as some unreleased versions, such as a performance of "Free Bird" recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, last November, which marked guitarist Gary Rossington before his death in March of this year.
“We miss him terribly,” Johnny Van Zant in the liner notes for the box set. “What kept me going was calling [Rossington] and having those conversations. He was my cheerleader. So now I’m going to have to remember his voice to keep my spirits up and carry on…”
The physical version of FYFTY has a fold-out cover with a detailed 40-page booklet featuring opening notes written by filmmaker and longtime friend of the band Cameron Crowe , along with liner notes and track-by-track analysis by Detroit rock writer Gary Graff . The book also includes previously unreleased photos of the original and current Skynyrd band.

The band Lynyrd Skynyrd has announced an extra show in Brazil in 2023. In addition to the show at the Jaguariúna Rodeio Festival , in the interior of São Paulo, the legendary southern rock group will also perform in the state capital in September.
The shows are part of the tour celebrating the group's 50th anniversary, formed in Jacksonville, United States, in 1964. The single performance is confirmed for September 22nd at Espaço Unimed.
