Luiz Carlini, guitarist for Rita Lee & Tutti Frutti in the 1970s, died last Thursday, the 7th, at the age of 73. The cause of death was not disclosed.
According to Billboard Brazil, the artist was hospitalized at the Metropolitan Hospital in São Paulo. The artist's official profile released a statement announcing his death with details about the funeral.
The musician marked generations as the guitarist for the band Tutti Frutti and a long-time collaborator of Rita Lee, known primarily for the solo in "Ovelha Negra," one of the greatest classics of Brazilian rock. With Rita Lee, he recorded the albums Atrás do Porto Tem uma Cidade (1974), Fruto Proibido (1975), Entradas e Bandeiras (1976), and Babilônia (1978).
Throughout his career, the guitarist participated in over 400 recordings. He worked with artists such as Barão Vermelho, Titãs, Marcelo Nova, Supla, and Guilherme Arantes.
In recent months, the musician had remained active on the road. He was participating in 50 Anos-Luz . In April, he was hospitalized after suffering from an infection.
