In a recent episode of The Wikimetal Happy Hour , Nando Machado hosted Johanna Sadonis and Nicke Andersson from Lucifer for a conversation that ended up touching on modern music.
When asked about their opinion regarding current pop music compared to the quality of 1970s music, Sadonis and Andersson expressed disappointment with the current hits. "It's worse today than it ever was," Nicke commented.
“If we look at pop, 70s pop was very creative and with diverse groups, and the work dedicated to songwriting was much more extensive than it is today,” Johanna added. “Today, any idiot can be a pop star. There isn’t much material that stands out. You get in a taxi anywhere in the world and you always hear the same kind of vocals, and that’s terrible.”
Johanna's discontent wasn't limited to pop music. Speaking about modern rock and metal, she also seemed unimpressed. "Generally speaking, most radio stations, at least here in Sweden and Germany, play a generic type of modern rock," she said. "The production is so awful and shameful. It can never be better than it was when rock and metal were at their peak in the 70s and maybe the early 80s."
