Don Was , producer and leader of the band Was (Not Was) , revealed he has a lost gem: a duet between Ozzy Osbourne and Madonna .

During the recording of the album Born to Laugh at Tornadoes in 1983, Was (Not Was) brought together some guests to participate in the track "Shake Your Head." Among them were Ozzy Osbourne , at the time about to release Bark at the Moon , and a young studio singer named Madonna , still on the eve of worldwide fame.

Don Was told Rolling Stone that Madonna “did a great job. But it didn’t end up sounding like something typical of Was (Not Was).”

Almost a decade later, in 1992, the band re-recorded the song for a compilation album. Ozzy reprised his vocals, but Madonna refused to allow her participation, which led the group to call Kim Basinger to handle the female vocals. The new version became the band's biggest international hit, reaching the top 5 in the UK.

Even so, Don Was never forgot the original duet. “We realized, about eight years later, that we had Ozzy and Madonna on side tracks. So, we gave the song to a remixer… And he turned it into an Ozzy/Madonna duet,” the musician revealed.

An unlikely collaboration that might yield a future deluxe edition of Born to Laugh at Tornadoes, with the much-talked-about Ozzy/Madonna duet finally coming to light.
