Slipknot's 'Look Outside Your Window' may be released in 2024.

The album was recorded in 2008 and almost released in 2019.

Look Outside Your Window , a Slipknot that has been shelved since 2008, may be released in 2024.

Shawn “Clown” Crahan , the band's percussionist, was on Andy Hall's Access recently and commented on the unreleased album they recorded during the sessions for Slipknot's fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone (2008).

Crahan responded that there are two main reasons why Slipknot hasn't released Look Outside Your Window . First, because it's an album they consider timeless, it could be released at any time, whether now or ten years from now.

And the main reason, according to Clown, is that every time the band came close to releasing the project, life threw Slipknot in a different direction.

He stated that everything is ready, including the artwork and all stages of production, and believes the album will be released sometime in 2024. “It will come out. You have my word. There’s no drama. It needs the right moment. It needs its own space and not to share with anyone or anything else. So it has its due time in this reality. So that’s all I can say.” (via Loudwire )

The album 'Look Outside Your Window'

Look Outside Your Window was recorded around the same time Slipknot worked on the album All Hope Is Gone (2008). Of the nine original band members, only Clown and Jim Root participated in these side sessions, along with Corey Taylor and Sid Wilson.

Although Corey tried to blend the songs they made for Look Outside Your Window with All Hope Is Gone , it wasn't working, as these other songs ended up being more melodic and were even compared to those of Radiohead . According to Clown, when they played them for other people, the common response was "it's not Slipknot".

Because of this, none of the eleven songs are on the standard version of All Hope Is Gone , however “Til We Die” is present on a special edition of the album. Another song originally written during the sessions was “My Pain”, released on the album We Are Not Your Kind (2019).

Actually, there was an intention to finally release Look Outside Your Window in 2019, but a series of delays occurred and the album is still awaiting release.

Clown x Corey Taylor

In a 2023 interview with NME, Corey Taylor said he was oblivious to the album's release process and even wished it would never be released, since something that started unpretentiously is now like the band's Holy Grail, laden with expectations.

However, a few months later, Taylor apparently changed his mind. He commented that he was surprised to discover in a conversation with Clown that he himself was one of the obstacles. (via Loudwire )

“I was talking to Clown about this the other day and he said, ‘One of the reasons it hasn’t been released is because you keep releasing things that conflict with when I want to release it!’”

After that, in addition to setting a schedule for the release, Corey promised Clown that he wouldn't release any other music at that time so as not to interfere with the project's progress.

“I just went back and listened to all that stuff and it’s so cool and so different. [...] It doesn’t sound like anything Slipknot has ever done before, that’s why it’s something unique. For me, it’s really the lost album. The music is so beautiful, it probably has some of my favorite melodies that I’ve ever written, and people are really going to like it. Clown did a really good job.” (via NME )

Awaiting release

After many delays and failed attempts to release Look Outside Your Window , Clown assured NME that the album is mixed, mastered, and ready for release in 2024.
