One of the pillars of 90s grunge, the band Bush opened the first of three dates of a mini-tour in Brazil, performing at Lollapalooza Brasil this Sunday, the 30th. In the coming days, they will also be in Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro, on April 1st and 2nd, respectively.
The group, which emerged in 1992, was a phenomenon alongside bands like Nirvana and Soundgarden . The tour coming to Brazil is called Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour and is a celebration of their 30-year career, compiling their best and most famous works in a setlist of approximately 15 songs that includes big hits like "Everything Zen" and "Machinehead".
In an interview, vocalist Gavin Rossdale celebrated: “We were impatient to return to South America – and we are thrilled to finally be back – we can’t wait to see you.” The band’s last visit to the country was in 2019.
At 6:50 PM, after sunset, the lights on the Mike's Ice stage went out, to the delight of the audience. Nik Hughes , the drummer, was the first to take the stage, accompanied by an electronic intro worthy of soundtrack . With the first riffs of "Everything Zen," the energy began to shift, and the anticipation transformed into pure joy.
The classic “Machine Head” followed, blasting through the speakers and having the audience chanting the chorus like a prayer. During “More Than Machines,” Chris showed his skills, going down to sing with the fans, who went wild and enjoyed every second of the performer's affectionate gesture.
“Swallow” channeled the energy into an intimate moment, where Chris was the highlight, accompanied by an angelic choir contrasting with his powerful, raspy voice. “Glycerine” was also a highlight, played in a kind of a cappella that moved even the toughest of rockers.
By making extensive use of ambient sound throughout the songs, the setlist, being part of an archive tour, encompassed a good portion of the band's discography. In an impeccable performance, Chris Traynor Corey Britz 's penetrating bass . The band definitely knows how to deliver a show.
