Confirmed for this year's Rock In Rio , Living Colour was interviewed by Black Pantera , a band from Minas Gerais that will open the shows on the Sunset Stage on Metal Day at the event.

The conversation between the Brazilians and Will Calhoun , drummer of Living Colour, took place at the invitation of the newspaper O Globo . Both bands are entirely composed of Black musicians, something uncommon among the big names in rock and metal today, a scene where racism is still a sad reality to be fought.

In the conversation, Black Pantera questioned precisely that: besides Living Colour, Bad Brains , and Fishbone , "very few Black bands have stood out in the mainstream of rock." What could be the reason, given that this is a style born in Black communities?

“The reason, we know very well. Despite being a style created by black people, rock'n'roll was (and still is) dominated by white people, and many of them forget or pretend not to know the true origin and root of the style,” Calhoun pointed out.

On September 2nd, Living Colour will perform on the Sunset Stage in a collaboration with Steve Vai . The stage will also host Bullet For My Valentine, Metal Allegiance , and Black Pantera with special guests Devotos .
