Live Aid , one of the most landmark events in rock history, will be turned into a musical called Just For One Day . The show will take place in the first quarter of 2024 at the Old Vic Theatre in London.

The original concert took place in 1985, both in Wembley, England, and Philadelphia, and was organized as a way to bring public attention to the issue of famine in Ethiopia.

The festival brought together great artists, and the piece, conceived by John O'Farrell and Luke Sheppard, will feature songs by Queen , Elton John , U2 , Paul McCartney , and Sting that were played that day. Bob Geldof, one of the creators of Live Aid, spoke about the musical in an interview with BBC News : “This won't be a tribute. I wouldn't have anything to do with it. So there's no one dressed as Freddie wearing a shitty mustache. The songs drive the drama.”

The play's title, Just For One Day David Bowie 's song "Heroes," and will show how Live Aid and Band Aid joined forces with the Band Aid Charitable Trust, which authorized the musical and will receive 10% of each ticket sold. This organization helps African countries, including Ethiopia, that are experiencing famine and contributes to preserving health and combating disease.

Geldof, who will be played by Craige Els , also said: “The story is based on real testimonies from that day. These are real people telling their stories. Therefore, it is a complex piece of theatre.”
