Listening to metal music while driving can lead to dangerous driving, according to a study

Gender is linked to aggressive attitudes and involvement in accidents

A study conducted by Extreme Terrain, an American company that makes accessories for off-road vehicles, interviewed one thousand drivers in the United States, seeking to understand the impact of music on driving habits.

Metal listeners led in four of the nine categories of harmful behaviors analyzed ( via Loudwire ), being more likely to honk at other drivers (25% of responses), run red lights (65% of responses), be involved in a serious accident (25%), and drive under the influence of alcohol and/or other substances (10%).

Regarding aggressive driving, fans of the genre came in fourth place, with 26% of the responses, in a list surprisingly led by soul/R&B listeners.

Metal came in 9th place on the list of drivers' preferred genres, favored by only 16% of drivers, while rock came in 1st place, with 52% of the choices.

About three out of ten respondents linked listening to very loud music while driving to risky driving behaviors.
