No other couple defined the 90s as much as Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love ; however, the controversial and talented duo only performed together on stage once, in September 1993, at the Lingerie Club in Los Angeles.
“Watch carefully, this is the first and last time you’ll see this happen,” Love warned about Cobain’s participation. The performance took place at the Rock Against Rape , and featured the couple playing “Pennyroyal Tea,” from Nirvana ’s In Utero , and also “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?” by Leadbelly, one of Kurt’s most frequent covers, present and immortalized on Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged , filmed two months after the performance in question.
